ArtworksThis page contains a sample of my current work (all from the last year). Older pieces are being reevaluated for inclusion. ColorA pen, ink and gouache illustration for the cover of the new edition of the Kingdom of Ansteorra Newcomer's Guide (a local SCA kingdom publication). Designed after several illuminated manuscripts originally painted between 1300 and 1600. The originals were labors of the seasons, specifically summer and autumn. Actual size 8x8.25 inches Intended Print size 3x3 inches
Gouache and pencil on bristol board, made as a birthday gift for a friend. It is based on the August panel from the Tres Riches Heures of the Duc DuBarry. Major elements that are different are the members of the hunting party (only the subject and another friend are shown), and the dogs and horses, who are based on real animals. I also made a slight change, adding a thatched hut to one side of the hayfields, and chose to leave out the swimmers and the harvestmen, instead showing the hay already cut and stacked and the pond empty. As in the original illuminated panels, this is unsigned on the front. Actual size (including white borders) 9x11 inches Not intended for print. In the private collection of T. Hunnewell. Black and WhiteColumn Queens

A pen and ink drawing of a well-known 12th century carving depicting Herod and Salome. Actual size of drawing is 8x10 inches. Intended Print size is 4x5 inches. |
